Yangma Island

Yangma Island is a small island about 20 kilometers east of central Yantai, connected to the mainland by a causeway and developed as a beach resort area. The island has a milder microclimate than the mainland coast — cooler in summer, frost-free longer in winter — and the beaches here are among the better ones in the Yantai area.

The island's main appeal is its combination of beach access, fresh seafood, and relative quietness compared with the main Yantai shoreline. A small scenic area occupies the highest point with views across the bay. The causeway approach makes it easy to visit by car; public buses run from Yantai's east bus station. Accommodation is available on the island for those wanting to stay overnight.
