Taierzhuang, 30 kilometers southeast, is the main reason most visitors come to the Zaozhuang area: the reconstructed ancient canal town and the Battle of Taierzhuang Memorial Hall together fill a half-day easily and reward a full day for those with a serious interest in WWII history or Chinese heritage architecture. Zaozhuang's high-speed rail station is the practical gateway for reaching Taierzhuang from outside the region.
