Datong's Bell Tower stands in the old city, rebuilt in 2015 on the basis of historical images and survey records after the earlier tower was demolished in 1951. The current pavilion has three visible tiers and four floors, with an iron bell cast in the Ming dynasty.
It is a short stop while walking between Datong's restored old-city sights. Pair it with the Drum Tower, Huayan Temple, and Shanhua Temple rather than making a special trip just for the tower.
