One of Taipa Village's most reliable Macanese restaurants, Galo has been serving traditional food in the village lanes for decades. The African chicken — a whole bird roasted in a sauce of chilli, coconut, and spices — is the dish most people come for, but the bacalhau and minchi are equally good. The room is simple and unpretentious, with checked tablecloths and service that is warm if sometimes brisk when the restaurant is busy.
The Portuguese wine list is short but well-chosen. Booking is advisable for dinner, especially on weekends when the village fills with day-trippers from Hong Kong and the casino hotels.
