Getting Around

Lhasa's old town around the Barkhor is compact and best explored on foot. For longer distances, privately run minibuses provide a quick and cheap way to get around. Pedicabs are plentiful on the main streets. Renting a bicycle is a good option for the flat valley roads, though the altitude may slow you down at first.
