Tsurphu rewards visitors who take time to walk through the complex rather than simply entering and exiting the main hall. The monastery backs up against the hillside, and the path that climbs behind the buildings offers views over the valley and access to several smaller shrines. The drive up from the main road through the Tolung valley is itself worth the journey.
