Hotan has an airport with regular flights to Ürümqi (roughly 2 hours) and Kashgar. Hotan Railway Station is served by the southern Xinjiang loop line, with trains to Kashgar (3–4 hours) and to Ürümqi via the southern route. High-speed services have reduced travel times considerably since 2011. By road, the Karakoram Highway connects south to Pakistan via the Khunjerab Pass, though this route passes through Kashgar rather than Hotan directly. Coming from Kashgar by bus or shared taxi takes around 5–6 hours.
