Ningbo has an expanding metro system with several lines serving the main districts. The historic old city, TianYi Pavilion, and Tianyi Square are all accessible from the central stations. The Jiangbei and Laowaitan areas are a short walk from the river crossing or served by bus. For outlying destinations — Cicheng, Dongqian Lake, Baoguo Temple, Beilun ferry terminal — buses are frequent and cheap, and taxis or rideshare are straightforward.
The old city centre is walkable. The main cluster of historic sights — Drum Tower, TianYi Pavilion, Tianyi Square, Laowaitan, Jiangbei district — forms a compact zone that can be covered on foot in a full day. Bicycles and e-bikes are widely available through sharing schemes and cover the flat city terrain well. The metro is the fastest option for reaching the History Museum in Yinzhou and the ferry terminal in Beilun.
