The Yandang Mountains are the primary day trip from Wenzhou — about 90 kilometres north, accessible by high-speed train or bus in around an hour. The dramatic volcanic landscape rewards a full day or overnight stay. Dongtou Islands, connected by bridge, are an easy half-day trip for coastal scenery and seafood. The Taishun covered bridges — a collection of Song-Dynasty timber bridges in a remote mountain county to the southwest — are a longer but memorable excursion for those with their own transport.
