Wuzhen's restaurants serve the freshwater-focused food of the Jiangnan water towns — braised pork belly (dongpo rou), white shrimp from nearby lakes, freshwater crab in autumn, and river fish steamed or braised with soy and ginger. The canal-side restaurants in the West Quarter have the best settings; prices are higher than in ordinary Chinese towns but not unreasonable for what you get.
Avoid the restaurants right at the entrance gates, which are aimed at tour groups. Walk twenty minutes further in to find places with better food and fewer menus in English.
