Xiansheng Scenic Area

The Xiansheng (Immortal Mountain) area is the least-visited of the main Yandang scenic areas and the one that rewards independent hikers most. A trail winds through a sequence of gorges and boulder-strewn valleys, with rock formations that are less dramatic than Lingfeng's but encountered without the crowds. The path passes several small temples in cave hollows and a natural stone arch, and eventually climbs to a ridge with long views across the outer valleys of the park.

This section also marks the start of a multi-hour ridge traverse that can be done with a guide to reach remote valleys on the mountain's eastern flank, where traditional villages and tea terraces have seen relatively little tourist traffic. The terrain is genuinely rugged in places; proper footwear and plenty of water are necessary. The Xiansheng area lacks the infrastructure of the main scenic zones — no cable cars, no food stalls beyond the entrance — which is most of its appeal.
