Eating Out

Yiwu's international merchant community has created an unusually diverse food scene for a mid-size Chinese city. The Muslim quarter around Binwang Market has a concentration of halal restaurants serving dishes from the Middle East, South Asia, and Central Asia — lamb kebabs, flatbreads, Iranian stews, Pakistani biryani — at very reasonable prices aimed at the wholesale buying community rather than tourists.

For Chinese food, Yiwu is in Jinhua prefecture and the local cuisine includes Jinhua ham, one of China's most famous cured meats, used in braised dishes and soups. The night markets near the train station and in the older downtown streets have the usual range of Zhejiang dishes alongside the international options.
