When to Go

Summer (June to September) is peak season, with hot weather, packed beaches, and nightlife in full swing. July and August are the busiest months -- expect crowds and higher prices, but also the most energy. Water temperatures are warm enough for swimming from May through October.

Spring (April-May) and autumn (October) are excellent if you want good weather without the crush. Temperatures are pleasant for walking and exploring Cape Greco, and many restaurants and bars are still open.

Winters are mild by northern European standards but quiet -- many tourist-oriented businesses close from November to March.

Festivals

The Ayia Napa Festival in September is the town's main cultural event, running since 1985. Held at the Monastery's Sepheris Square, it features concerts, opera, theatre, and Cypriot folk dancing. A week-long Medieval Festival follows in October, with music, dance, and exhibitions of Venetian masks and medieval weaponry at the Monastery. In June, the Children's Festival is a one-day event with food stalls, performances, and activities for kids. The month of December brings a Christmas Festival with weekly caroling, markets, and a New Year's Eve celebration centred on The Square.
