The Larnaca District Archaeological Museum opened in 1969 and houses finds from Kition and other excavations across the Larnaca district. The collection spans from the Neolithic period through the Hellenistic era, covering some 9,000 years of Cypriot history. Highlights include Bronze Age pottery, Phoenician artefacts from Kition, terracotta figurines, and items from the tombs that gave the city its name.
The museum is small and manageable — most visitors take 45 to 60 minutes — and it provides the best context for understanding the city's long history before or after visiting the archaeological site at Kition. Located near the castle on the seafront, it is easy to combine with a walk along the promenade.
