Lady's Mile

Unspoilt four-mile beach named after a commander's horse

A long, mostly undeveloped beach stretching about four miles west of Limassol, between the New Port and the Akrotiri RAF base. The name comes from Lady, the horse of a former base commander who used to exercise her on these sands.

Development is minimal — just a handful of wooden beach restaurants spaced along its length. The port end is pebbly with deep water close to shore, but as you walk toward the RAF base the sand turns whiter and the water becomes beautifully shallow. You will need a car to get here as there is no bus service. Popular with locals on weekends and holidays, but the sheer length of the beach means there is always room to spread out.
