When to Go

Cyprus has one of the best climates in the Mediterranean. Summers (June–September) are long, hot, and reliably dry — perfect for beach holidays, though July and August can be intensively hot (35°C+) and the popular beach areas get busy. Spring (March–May) and autumn (October–November) are ideal for sightseeing, with warm but not overwhelming temperatures and far fewer crowds.

The Cyprus Wine Festival in Limassol is held in late August or early September — a good reason to visit at that time of year. Winter (December–February) is mild by northern European standards — daytime temperatures of 15–18°C are typical — and ideal for visiting the archaeological sites without the heat. The Troodos mountains above Limassol receive snow in January and February, making a remarkable contrast with the coast below.
