The Gundlakamma Reservoir is built across the Gundlakamma River as it cuts down from the Eastern Ghats toward the coast. It is both a scenic spot — a broad sheet of water with low hills behind — and a pilgrimage site, with a Venkateswara temple on its banks that sees steady foot traffic from the surrounding villages.
The reservoir is a half-hour drive west of Ongole and makes a pleasant short outing, especially in the cooler months. Local families come for picnics on weekends. There are no formal facilities; bring water and snacks.
