Srigiri Hills — Venkateswara Swamy Temple

A hilltop Venkateswara shrine perched above the coastal plain south of Ongole. The temple is a local pilgrimage site, popular for the views from the top as much as for the worship. The walk up is short but steep in places; sandals are fine, but cover your head if the sun is high.

Like much of the district, the temple sees heavy traffic on Saturdays — Venkateswara's day — and during the annual festival, when it can become genuinely crowded. On other days it is a quiet climb with a fine perspective over the surrounding plains.
