Stone-Carving Workshops

Ramadugu is known across Telangana for its granite stone-carvers, and the workshops are scattered through the village lanes in plain view. Artisans work in open-air yards, shaping religious figures — Nandi bulls, Ganeshas, temple pillars, decorative panels — from raw blocks of local stone. The work is done largely by hand using traditional chisels and hammers, and a skilled carver can spend weeks on a single large piece.

The finished sculptures are sold throughout India: you will find Ramadugu stonework in temple complexes and private homes from here to Tamil Nadu. There is no organised tourist trail, but nobody minds if you watch and ask questions. If you want to buy, pieces range from small decorative items to large architectural elements; the carvers can arrange shipping for heavier work.
