Sonepur Cattle Fair is one of Bihar's great seasonal gatherings, held in November across the Ganges from Patna near the confluence of the Ganges and Gandak rivers. It is traditionally known as one of Asia's largest cattle and animal fairs.
The fair is not a polished tourist event, which is part of its interest. Expect crowds, trade, food stalls, religious visitors, and a rough-edged rural fair atmosphere. From Patna, cross toward Hajipur and allow plenty of time for traffic.
