When to Go

Silvassa sits near the Arabian Sea in the foothills of the Western Ghats, giving it a relatively mild climate year-round. Winter (November to February) is the best time to visit, with pleasant temperatures and clear skies ideal for outdoor activities.

Summer (March to May) brings temperatures between 25 and 39 degrees. May is the hottest month. If you can handle the heat, the National Tribal Art and Food Festival (May 1-7) is worth timing a visit around. Tribal artists from across India gather to exhibit and sell Madhubani, Kangra, and Warli paintings, while the food festival serves tribal cuisine from many regions.

Monsoon (June to August) sees moderate rainfall thanks to the sheltering Western Ghats. The landscape turns lush green and the waterfalls are at their best. The Monsoon Magic Festival runs from mid-July to mid-August, with rain dances, musical concerts, cross-country runs, and monsoon painting competitions.

Winter (November to February) is the most comfortable season. The Tarpa Festival (December 23-31) celebrates the tribal culture of Dadra and Nagar Haveli through folk dance, boating, swimming, and traditional art competitions. The Kite Festival around Makar Sankranti in January fills the sky with colour. Nariyeli Purnima in August marks the beginning of the fishing season with prayers and celebrations along the coast.
