A densely commercial neighbourhood in West Delhi, famous for being Delhi's main wholesale and retail market for textiles, jewellery, shoes, and electronic goods. Ajmal Khan Road is the main commercial artery, several kilometres of shops selling everything from wedding saris to cheap electronics. The neighbourhood is loud, crowded, and entirely functional — people come here to shop rather than to sightsee.
Karol Bagh is also one of the more accessible neighbourhoods for budget travellers, with a wide range of guesthouses and hotels, particularly around Pusa Road and the Karol Bagh metro station. The food in the neighbourhood reflects its position as a transit point: Roshan di Kulfi is the most famous sweet shop, but the street food stalls along Ajmal Khan Road and the surrounding lanes are reliably good and cheap.
