The Shankar's International Dolls Museum houses over 6,000 dolls from 85 countries, collected by the political cartoonist K. Shankar Pillai. The collection is split into two halls — one for dolls from India and Asia, another covering Europe, the Americas, Africa, and Australia. Many are dressed in traditional costumes that offer a surprisingly detailed window into textile traditions around the world.
The museum sits on Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg near India Gate. It is a favorite with families and school groups, so weekday mornings tend to be quieter. Entry is inexpensive. Allow about an hour for a thorough visit.
