The everyday market sits a couple of hundred metres back from the beach — a covered hall of fruit and vegetable stalls, a couple of fish stalls (early morning is the moment), a tailor or two, and the usual outer ring of clothing and souvenir shops. Less of a tourist scene than the Wednesday flea market in Anjuna, more of a working town market.
Worth a stroll if you're self-catering, or if you want to see Calangute that isn't pointed at tourists. Pick up a kilo of cashews, a bottle of Goan feni, and a packet of red Goan rice on the way out.
