Getting There

Saputara is connected to the outside world mainly by road. The nearest airport is Mumbai (Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International), about 250km away; Surat Airport is closer at around 165km but has fewer connections. From either airport you'll need a taxi or bus to continue to the hill station.

The most useful rail connection is Waghai station on the narrow-gauge Bilimora–Waghai line, which runs from Bilimora on the main Mumbai–Ahmedabad line up into the Dang hills. From Waghai it's a further 25km by road to Saputara — shared jeeps and autos are usually available. Direct bus services run from Surat (around 4 hours), Ahmedabad (around 6 hours), and Nashik (around 3 hours). The mountain road from Nashik via Igatpuri is scenic and the most dramatic approach if you're coming from Maharashtra.
