Gira Falls

Seasonal waterfall near Waghai, most impressive during the monsoon months around Saputara.

Gira Falls is a seasonal waterfall near Waghai and one of the easiest monsoon excursions from Saputara. When the rains are running, the Ambica River drops in a broad, noisy sheet, with spray, greenery, and the usual small stalls that gather around popular Indian waterfall viewpoints.

Timing matters. Outside the wet season it can be underwhelming, while heavy monsoon days can make paths muddy and river edges unsafe. Go when there is enough flow to make the trip worthwhile, keep a sensible distance from the water, and combine it with the forested roads around Waghai rather than making it your only plan for the day.
