European Cemetery

Cantonment cemetery with colonial-era graves, war memorials, and a quieter Ambala history.

The European Cemetery is one of Ambala Cantonment's most tangible colonial survivals. It is not a grand monument, but a quiet field of graves and memorial stones that says a lot about how the cantonment functioned: soldiers, railway people, families, and administrators living far from home in a strategic military town.

Go for atmosphere rather than spectacle. The cemetery pairs naturally with Holy Redeemer Church nearby, and the old inscriptions give the cantonment a human scale that the railway yards and military roads can lack.
