Sringeri, about 27 km away on the banks of the Tunga River, is an ancient temple town with the Sharadamba and Vidyashankara temples. The nearby Sirimane Falls and Kodlu Theertha Falls are worth combining with a Sringeri visit. The Barkana viewpoint, 7 km from Agumbe, sits 2,000 feet above sea level with views across the Shimoga and Udupi districts and the distant Sita waterfall.
