Banashankari Amma Temple, at Cholachagudda near Badami, is an active shrine dedicated to a form of Parvati worshipped across northern Karnataka. It is less archaeologically refined than the cave temples, but it is more visibly alive as a pilgrimage centre.
Visit with the right expectations: bells, offerings, families, and ritual movement rather than quiet museum-like viewing. It combines easily with Mahakuta or the wider temple circuit.
