Four beaches stretch south of Gokarna town, each accessible by cliff trail or boat. Kudle beach is the closest — a 20-minute walk over the headland — with a long crescent of sand and beachside cafes doubling as guesthouses. Om beach (shaped like the Om symbol) is the most popular, with good waves and the best choice of shack accommodation. Half Moon beach is smaller and wilder, reached by a 20-minute walk along the cliff face from Om. Paradise beach, furthest south, has minimal facilities and requires a further scramble over rocks. All four beaches have simple places to stay during the season (October to April); during the monsoon (June to September) facilities close.
