Cheluvamba Mansion

Former Mysore royal residence, now a research institute, with a graceful palace-era facade.

Cheluvamba Mansion is one of Mysore's quieter palace-era buildings, built for a princess of the Wadiyar family and now used by a research institute. You visit for the exterior and the atmosphere of the old royal city spreading beyond Mysore Palace.

Do not expect it to function like a museum with regular tourist access. It is best seen as part of an architecture-minded route through Mysore, along with Jaganmohan Palace, the university quarter, and other reminders of the princely state.
