Getting There

Mysore is well connected to the rest of Karnataka and to Chennai and Kerala by road and rail. By train it is around three hours from Bengaluru (Bangalore), with frequent express services throughout the day. The Mysore Junction railway station is centrally located and walkable to most hotels.

By road, the Bengaluru–Mysore expressway has cut the drive to under two hours. State and private buses run from Bengaluru's various bus stands; the KSRTC Airavat and Volvo coaches are the most comfortable. From Ooty in Tamil Nadu, Mysore is about four hours through the Nilgiri foothills — a scenic route past forests, tea plantations, and the Bandipur tiger reserve.

Mysore has a small airport (Mandakalli) with limited services. Most visitors fly into Bengaluru (Kempegowda International Airport) and travel onward by train or road.
