Marari Beach is the relaxed coastal counterpoint to Alappuzha's canals and houseboats. Named for Mararikulam village, it has a long, coconut-backed sweep of sand and a slower rhythm than Kerala's busier resort beaches.
Come for walking, sunset, and a day of doing very little rather than for a packed strip of facilities. Swimming conditions vary with the season and surf, but as a quiet beach escape before or after the backwaters, Marari earns the short ride north from town.
