Odathil Mosque

Odathil Mosque is one of Thalassery's best expressions of Malabar's trading culture. Built in the early 19th century by Moosa Kakka of the Keyi merchant family, it stands on land once used as a Dutch sugarcane garden, which is where the name comes from.

The building is unusual because it borrows from Kerala temple architecture rather than the mosque forms visitors may expect elsewhere in India. Its copper roof, timber details, and quiet compound tell a more local story than a grander monument would.
