Bhopal is well connected by rail: it sits on the main Delhi–Mumbai line and most express trains stop here. The journey from Delhi takes about 7 hours on the Shatabdi Express; from Mumbai it is about 12 hours. The railway station (Bhopal Junction) is in the heart of the city.
Raja Bhoj Airport has flights to Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, and other major Indian cities. The airport is about 12km from the city centre; taxis and auto-rickshaws are available. Inter-city buses run from the ISBT bus stand and cover destinations across Madhya Pradesh, including Sanchi (46km, about an hour).
