Kati Ghati Gateway

Huge 15th-century gateway carved through a single rock ridge.

Kati Ghati is Chanderi's most dramatic gateway: a tall passage cut directly through a ridge south of town. Built in the late 15th century, it once marked a route between Malwa and Bundelkhand.

The appeal is simple and physical. Stand in the shadow of the cut and you understand the labour and ambition behind it in a way that a smaller city gate would never show.
