Gujari Mahal

Fort-side palace turned archaeological museum, with regional sculpture and a romantic origin story.

Gujari Mahal stands below the main fort ridge and now houses an archaeological museum. The building is traditionally linked to Raja Man Singh Tomar and his queen Mrignayani, which gives it a more intimate story than the big ceremonial spaces above.

The museum collection is unevenly presented but worthwhile if you care about sculpture from central India. It also makes a good bridge between the city below and the fort above, especially if you are approaching from the eastern side.
