Narmada Ghats

The ghats along the Narmada are where Omkareshwar feels most alive. Pilgrims bathe, priests conduct rituals, boats nose across the current, and the island temple rises above the water.

Even if you are not joining the rituals, spend time here early or late in the day. The steps give the town its rhythm and make the island setting much clearer than a quick dash to the temple.

A story
The Narmada is one of India's great sacred rivers, and Omkareshwar's ghats turn that devotion into daily movement: bathing, offerings, boatmen, bells, and evening lamps on the water.
