The town itself is compact enough to walk across in twenty minutes, but the sights are scattered across the district. Autos and e-rickshaws ply the main bazaar and connect the bus stand with the railway stations. Shared jeeps and minibuses run from the bus terminal toward Dalhousie, Banikhet, and Shahpur Kandi throughout the day.
For Ranjit Sagar Dam and more remote areas, hiring a taxi or an auto-rickshaw for the day is the easiest approach. Agree the fare before you set off — expect to pay around ₹1,500–2,000 for a full-day tour of the district's main sites. Taxis are easy to find near both railway stations.
Pathankot Cantonment and Pathankot Junction are about five kilometres apart; autos link them cheaply and frequently.
