Getting There

By train is by far the easiest and most reliable approach. Sawai Madhopur Junction is directly on the main Mumbai–Delhi line and has good connections to Jaipur (two hours), Agra (three hours), and Delhi (four to five hours). Several overnight trains from Mumbai take about 12 hours. The station is in town, about 10 km from the park gate.

By road from Jaipur takes about three hours (180 km). Buses run frequently from Jaipur's main bus stand to Sawai Madhopur and are cheap but slow. A private taxi is more comfortable and allows you to stop at Abhaneri (the elaborate 9th-century step-well) along the way.

By air the nearest airport is Jaipur, about 190 km away. There is no direct flight to Sawai Madhopur. From Jaipur airport, take a taxi directly to Sawai Madhopur (three hours) or take a train from Jaipur Junction.

Most lodges near the park gate offer pickup from Sawai Madhopur station if you arrange it in advance.
