Srirangam is almost entirely defined by the Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple — visiting the island means visiting the temple. The outer enclosures are open to all, and non-Hindus can enter much of the complex, though the innermost sanctum is restricted. Allow at least two hours for the temple complex alone. The Jambukeswarar Temple in the Thiruvanaikaval neighbourhood to the east of the island is worth combining on the same trip. For the broader Trichy area, the Rock Fort temples and the city centre are a short auto-rickshaw ride from the bridge.
