Company Garden

Terraced municipal garden with Himalayan views and a small amusement area

The Company Garden — officially the Municipal Garden — sits on terraced slopes below the Mall Road at the eastern end of town. It is a well-maintained public garden with flower beds, a small artificial waterfall, and views across the valley. The name dates to the British period, when it was the Company Bagh.

On weekends it fills with families and is a cheerful rather than contemplative place. The entrance fee is modest. There is a small skating rink, toy train ride, and various food stalls that cater primarily to the Indian family market. Go on a weekday morning if you want the garden itself rather than the carnival atmosphere.
