Getting Around

Mussoorie is long and thin, strung along a ridge with two distinct ends: Library Bazaar to the west and Picture Palace (Landour Bazaar direction) to the east. The Mall Road connecting them is about two kilometres and walkable, though it gets very crowded. Electric vehicles and shared tempos run along the road when walking feels like too much.

The town rises steeply from the ridge in all directions. Getting up to Landour or down to the lower bazaars means walking steep lanes — comfortable walking shoes are essential. Bicycle hire is available but the terrain makes cycling challenging for most of the central area.

There are no autos or cycle rickshaws here — the slopes rule them out.
