Most travellers arrive from Gorakhpur, which has the nearest major railway station and better bus connections. Buses, shared jeeps, and taxis cover the roughly 50 km road east to Kushinagar.
Kushinagar has an international airport, but flight schedules are limited and should be checked carefully before you build a trip around it. For most independent travellers, Gorakhpur remains the practical gateway.
