The Thai Temple adds bright Southeast Asian lines to Kushinagar's otherwise plain north Indian landscape. Its roofs, ornament, and landscaped grounds are immediately recognisable as Thai Buddhist architecture, and the compound is usually well kept.
For many visitors this is the most visually graceful of the modern monasteries. It is especially good in the late afternoon, when the light softens and the gold detailing stands out against the trees.
