St. Mary Armenian Church at Saidabad is a small but telling reminder that this stretch of the Bhagirathi was once tied into Armenian, Dutch, British, and local Bengali trade networks. It does not have the spectacle of Hazarduari, but it has a different kind of weight.
The church is best combined with Cossimbazar and the old cemeteries. Together they show Berhampore's quieter mercantile history, which is easy to miss if you only chase the Nawabi monuments.
