Bishnupur is about 150 km west of Kolkata. Trains from Howrah or Shalimar take roughly three and a half to four hours, depending on the service, and are the easiest way in for most travellers.
Buses run from Kolkata's Esplanade area and from nearby towns such as Durgapur, Bardhaman, and Asansol. By car, the usual route from Kolkata follows NH 19 toward Dankuni and then the road through Arambagh to Bishnupur; allow four to five hours with ordinary traffic.
