Bishnupur is best approached as a compact temple circuit. The finest monuments sit in a few clusters around Rasmancha, the laterite temple group, and Madanmohan Temple; walking works within each cluster, but a cycle rickshaw or toto saves time between them.
Go early or late if you care about the terracotta panels. The low sun brings out the relief work, while the middle of the day flattens the detail and makes the open compounds hot.
