Krishnagar Collegiate School

One of the oldest schools in West Bengal, founded in 1846

Krishnagar Collegiate School was established in 1846 alongside the government college and is among the oldest secondary schools in West Bengal. The main building is a long colonial structure with a low colonnade on the front, set in a generous compound just east of the Rajbari.

The school is still in active use, but the public area near the gate gives a sense of the scale of the original campus. It is a useful stop on a walking tour of nineteenth-century Krishnanagar, between the palace and the college.
