Lubang Buaya is a memorial site tied to the failed 1965 coup attempt and the deaths of several Indonesian army generals. The site includes monuments and museum displays explaining the official narrative of the events and their aftermath.
It is far from central Jakarta and politically charged, but it is one of the city's more important modern-history sites.
